Jul 30, 2019

McCoys has won a new £2.5m contract for the extension of the existing Nestle Waters plant in Buxton, Derbyshire.

Today saw McCoy Contractors Ltd break ground on their earthworks and civil engineering project at Buxton in Derbyshire. The scheme comprises of a new high bay warehouse extension to the existing plant and a lorry park area.

McCoys will carry out an integrated bulk earthworks and groundworks project which includes processing of excavated materials to create a new development platform along with substantial drainage works and the construction of concrete yard slabs and foundations.

Benefits:

McCoys has recommended a high-performance earthworks specification to minimise construction depths and will carry out processing and screening of site won materials to improve their reuse and minimise imported materials which offer environmental benefits to the contract.

Early contractor involvement (ECI) has allowed McCoy Contractors to offer its client buildability and value engineering proposals for the earthworks and groundworks solutions. While also undertaking both packages optimise the programme and deliver key early sections back to the client sooner had they decided to split the package.

Steve Johnson, Commercial Manager at McCoy Contractors, said: "The first of hopefully many combined earthworks and civil engineering/ groundwork’s schemes we will be undertaking. Reducing risk, optimising price, programme and VE opportunities for our clients."
